Bodywork for Athletic Performance and Recovery

My Approach To Bodywork

My approach to bodywork often involves focused, intentional pressure that may produce what many describe as a “good hurt” sensation. This type of therapeutic work is designed to address areas of muscular tension and restriction through controlled, targeted techniques. While some techniques may create temporary discomfort, treatment is always guided by your feedback, tissue response, and tolerance. The goal is purposeful therapeutic work, not simply applying more pressure.

Your body’s physical demands and recovery needs are constantly evolving. Whether you’re strength training, running, competing, or managing the physical demands of an active lifestyle, each session is tailored to your current condition, muscular needs, and performance goals.

About Me

A Licensed Massage Therapist since 2005 and a proud graduate of Applied Kinesthetic Studies (AKS) Massage School in Herndon, Virginia, I specialize in sports massage and therapeutic deep tissue bodywork designed to address the physical demands of an active lifestyle.

My approach is grounded in understanding muscular function, identifying areas of tension and restriction, and applying targeted techniques to support mobility, recovery, and physical performance.

Each session is individualized and may incorporate an integration of Sports Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, PNF Stretching, and Table Thai techniques (passive stretching). Treatment is guided by your current physical condition, training demands, areas of concern, and individual performance goals.

As a former multi-sport athlete, I understand firsthand the physical demands associated with training, competition, and recovery. I recognize that maintaining physical performance requires more than simply working through muscular tension. It involves understanding the relationship between strength, mobility, flexibility, and recovery.

My goal is to help you stay ahead of those physical demands through purposeful, individualized bodywork and an emphasis on ongoing muscular maintenance. We may also discuss complementary self-care strategies, including stretching, strengthening, and recovery practices to support your continued progress.

Whether you’re a competitive athlete, recreational runner, dedicated weightlifter, or simply someone who takes an active approach to physical fitness, my objective is to help you move better, recover effectively, and maintain the physical capacity to perform at your best.

Bodywork Therapy offers results-driven massage therapy tailored to align with your fitness goals. By combining my extensive knowledge, personal insight, intuitive approach and positive energy into every session, I am dedicated to providing the best bodywork possible in order to provide each individual with a renewed sense of well-being.

Q & A

What inspired my journey into massage therapy?

I became particularly interested in how athletes could support recovery, address muscular limitations, and maintain physical performance without immediately relying on pharmaceutical interventions or more invasive procedures when natural alternatives were available.
That interest ultimately led me to pursue massage therapy, where I discovered an opportunity to combine my passion for athletics, physical fitness, and a more holistic approach to health and recovery.

Today, my philosophy centers on proactive muscular maintenance, individualized therapeutic bodywork, and helping physically active individuals better understand and care for their bodies. I believe that consistent self-care, proper nutrition, strength training, mobility, and recovery practices all play an important role in maintaining long-term physical function and an active lifestyle.

Who I work with
